Austrian musician Marianne Martinez lived from 1744 – 1812. She was a pianist, singer, and composer whose talents were nurtured by her neighbor, the Italian poet and librettist Pietro Metastasio. He was a lifelong mentor who facilitated her overall education, and connected her with his famous and influential musical friends to help foster her career.
