Beautiful Music in Difficult Times March 18

The musical term “chaconne” is defined by the Harvard Dictionary of Music as: “…a kind of continuous variation …’ Chaconne is also the first name of an exceptionally talented young guitarist, Chaconne Klaverenga. She has demonstrated continuous variations on her talents and successes, impressing audiences and collecting awards since she was a teenager and, still in her twenties, performing at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. In 2012 Chaconne gave the world premiere performance of the Guitar Concerto in a minor by Grammy-winning cellist Rene Schiffer, a founding and current member of the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra’s Apollo’s Fire. This concerto was commissioned by the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, and was dedicated to Ms. Klaverenga. This is her performance of Beautiful Music by Domenico Scarlatti — two of his keyboard sonatas adapted for solo guitar — as well as the Grave movement from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sonata BWV1003.
