The Marsalis Family name is as associated with top-notch music making in the 21st century as the Bach Family name was in the 18th century. Branford Marsalis is the saxophone virtuoso member of the multi-talented, multi-generational Marsalis musical family. You may know of Branford Marsalis as the leader of The Tonight Show Band from 1992-1995. Or perhaps you know Branford Marsalis as the composer of original music for the new film MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM starring Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman. The eldest of 6 sons of eldest of Dolores (a jazz singer and substitute teacher with an accomplished musical family background) and Ellis (a pianist and music professor), Branford Marsalis is best known for his jazz playing, but also has classical roots. Branford Marsalis offers Beautiful Music by a member of that OTHER musical family (Bach), performing with saxophonist Susan Fancher and pianist Inara Zandmane.
