We Take Care of Each Other

Hello! Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! Are you managing ok? We’ve noticed that more and more people are listening to Sunday Baroque, visiting our website and Facebook page, and interacting with our social media, in general.

As we all adjust to “social distancing” I’m noticing a lovely trend: more and more people are reaching out. I run in my neighborhood every day, as I have for years. Lately I see far more people outside: walking, biking, running, playing in the yard with the kids. Everyone makes eye contact, everyone says hello. Our noses are not as deeply buried in our devices. We maintain a more than safe physical distance, yet we are connecting on a level more directly than was typical before as neighbors, as fellow humans. We leave encouraging chalk messages on our driveways, and we share the latest news about ways to help needy people in our community. We are keenly aware of each other, we are aware that we are all in this together, and we are searching for ways — even simple ones — to reach out to one another, to comfort, to acknowledge and be present for one another. We’ve shifted our focus to being useful and helpful.

Our humanity is shining through just when we need it most.

So keep up the good work! And meanwhile: be safe, and stay well!
