Nicholas Lanier was a creative and versatile Englishman who lived from 1588-1666. He was a singer, lutenist, and composer, as well as a set designer and painter. Today’s Beautiful Music is Nicholas Lanier’s lovely song The Marigold (Mark How the Blushful Morn) performed by soprano Ariadne Lih and lutenist Arash Noori.

Enjoy today’s Beautiful Music – a 2014 concert by soprano Maria Espada with Euskal Barrokensemble in Basque country. It’s a lovely, lively, and virtuosic program of music by a wide variety of composers.

Violinist Rubén Rengel was Sphinx’s 2018 Robert Frederick Smith Prize Winner. He teams up with pianist Haerin Kim to play the Sonata K.301 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. There’s also a link below to Rubén Rengel’s website so you can learn more about the talented young musician.

Violist Mira Williams and violinist Adé Williams are cousins. Georg Philipp Telemann’s Viola Concerto in G is one of the key solo compositions for the instrument. Telemann composed it in around the year 1715 in Frankfurt. Today’s Beautiful Music features Telemann’s Viola Concerto, played by violist Caleb Georges with Bowling Green Early Music Ensemble from a 2015 performance.
