Many of us have changed our working environments and processes, accomplishing tasks from home that we used to do from an office where we interacted with other people and had easy access to the tools and resources we needed to do our jobs. Some people have been ROCKING the change, becoming even more efficient, productive, and creative. I’d like to tell you about a couple of them.
They are part of the Sunday Baroque production team: Julie Freddino and Jennifer Bashar.
Because we have always recorded Sunday Baroque well in advance of broadcast date, Julie and Jennifer have the responsibilities of gathering all the CDs from the playlist I give them each week, loading them into a computer, and integrating them with my commentary. They also have to manipulate files to create the promotional spots for all of our stations across the country, and they listen to the finished show as a quality control measure before we send it to stations across the country to broadcast to you each week. (Julie and Jennifer have lots of other related tasks that are more nuanced and difficult to explain… but you get the picture!)
This means that Julie and Jennifer are now completing almost all ot of these tasks from their homes. And because of the unique circumstances and potential perils of the world we now live in, we have been conscientiously working even further ahead of schedule than usual to assure there will be no interruption to providing you with a fresh, new Sunday Baroque program every week.
Julie and Jennifer have embraced and mastered these challenges seamlessly and confidently. Julie has been an indispensable member of the Sunday Baroque team for more than two decades, however Jennifer is a more recent addition to our team. In fact, she became our production assistant right before the quarantine lockdown began, so she has tackled a learning curve as well as a major shift in her working environment. Both of these women are rock stars (or, perhaps, ba-rock stars?) in their expertise, tenacity, and commitment.
I have said for years that the production team members are the “brains“ behind Sunday Baroque, and it’s never been more true than it is at this moment. Their professionalism and dedication are inspiring!
