This Beautiful and Reflective Music is my offering to you on this solemn anniversary, September 11. It is Officium Defunctorum by Tomas Luis de Victoria, the Spanish composer’s musical setting of the Office of the Dead, which includes his Requiem Mass. The soaring music wraps you up in its gorgeous harmonies, uplifting and serene.  

Boston Baroque’s 2015 performance of George Frideric Handel’s AGRIPPINA is today’s Beautiful Music highlight. The performances are sung beautifully and deliciously acted, and the staging is so simple yet clever.  The soloists are Bass-Baritone Kevin Deas, Soprano Amanda Forsythe, Soprano Susanna Phillips, and Countertenor David Hansen.
