You may be familiar with the Huron Carol (aka “Twas in the Moon of Wintertime”), which dates back to 1643. It was written by Jesuit priest Saint Jean de Brébeuf (1593-1649) in Wendat (the Huron language), in which its title is Jesous Ahatonhia (“Jesus, he is born”), and uses a melody from an old French song.
