Teresa Carreño was a Venezuelan pianist who lived from 1853-1917. Her family moved to the United States when she was 9 years old, and the child prodigy even played for Abraham Lincoln. As a pianist, Teresa Carreño’s teachers included Louis Moreau Gottschalk and Anton Robinstein. She also became a singer, composer, and conductor.
