Petra Somlai is a Hungarian musician who studied conducting and piano performance at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest and earned her modern piano degree at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. Then she became interested in historical performance practices and period instruments, so she began studying fortepiano and harpsichord. Currently she is professor of fortepiano at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where she also teaches about the historical development of the fortepiano and the classical piano.
Petra Somlai provides today’s Beautiful Music — the Sonata No. 14 in c# Op. 27, No. 2 ‘Sonata quasi una fantasia’ by Ludwig van Beethoven, better known as the Moonlight Sonata.
