Bass-baritone David Pittsinger has a very personal connection to Memorial Day and to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. His late father was a Guard at the Tomb — a job of tremendous gravity, honor, and ceremony. Pittsinger commissioned composer Scott Eyerly to write the piece ARLINGTON SONS, which takes the perspective of a conversation between father and son about the solemn traditions of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Today’s Beautiful Music features David Pittsinger joined by his real-life son, singer Richard Pittsinger, as well cellist Carter Brey and pianist Bradley Moore to perform Scott Eyerly’s “Arlington Sons” at NYC’s St. Paul’s Chapel (Trinity Church Wall Street).
