On this Memorial Day weekend, today’s Beautiful Music is a REQUIEM — a mass for the repose of the dead. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s REQUIEM was commissioned in 1791 by Franz von Walsegg, an Austrian aristocrat, upon the death of his young wife, Anna. This stunning 2013 performance of the complete REQUIEM by Mozart features Nathalie Stuzmann conducting OSESP Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo and Coro Acadêmico e Coro da Osesp. The soloists are soprano· Lisa Larsson, mezzo soprano Wilke te Brummelstroete, tenor John Mark Ainsley, and baritone Burak Bilgili.
