The Nigeria-born composer is an African ethnomusicologist, intercultural musicologist, composer, church musician, pianist, organist, choral conductor, and a prolific publishing scholar. He earned his degrees at Louisiana State University, The University of Pittsburgh, The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Obafemi Awolowo University in Ifẹ̀ in Southern Nigeria. His setting of MOTHER IS A PRICELESS JEWEL is based on a popular Nigerian folk song. This performance features violinist Rachel Barton Pine and her talented daughter Sylvia Pine.
