I recently had the pleasure and honor of interviewing pianist Dr. Rochelle Sennet (there’s a link below to our conversation) and she mentioned a composer whose name was new to me. Amanda Aldridge was a British opera singer and teacher who also composed music using the pen name Montague Ring. She lived from 1886-1936, and was the daughter of Ira Aldridge, an American-born British actor, playwright, and theatre manager of African heritage. Today’s Beautiful Music features Dr. Rochelle Sennet playing Montague Ring’s CARNIVAL SUITE OF FIVE DANCES from her BACH TO BLACK VOLUME 11. You can also use the link below to learn more about Amanda Aldridge/Montague Ring.
