Joan Trimble was a pianist, composer, and half of a two-piano team with her sister Valerie. The Irish musician was born in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, and studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Trinity College in Dublin. Then she enrolled at the Royal College of Music in London, where she studied piano with Australian composer, pianist, and conductor Arthur Benjamin and composition with Ralph Vaughan Williams and Herbert Howells.
