Beautiful Music NOW – July 11, 2022

You may be familiar with the name Giacomo Puccini, the Italian composer of operas such as La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, and Turandot. Giacomo lived from 1858–1924. But Puccini was from a long line of accomplished musicians that began with his great-great-grandfather Jacopo in the 18th century. Jacopo Puccini was born in Lucca, Italy, studied in Bologna, then returned home to pursue his musical career for the remainder of his life. He lived from 1712-1781 and was a cathedral organist there. Today’s Beautiful Music is Jacopo Puccini’s sacred composition DIXIT DOMINUS, composed in 1755.
