“Ciaconna” is a musical term– that’s the Italian version. In French it’s “chaconne,” in Spanish it’s “chacona,” and it’s “chacony” in English. It is an early dance form, and it is a type of musical composition of variations on top of repeated chords. The Ciaconna by Veronese musician Antonio Bertali (1605-1669) is one of his most outstanding compositions. And this performance by violinist Alana Youssefian with Voices of Music is stellar.
