Beautiful Music in Difficult Times March 20

Today is “Play the Recorder Day” — an event sponsored by the American Recorder Society as part of its “Play the Recorder Month” celebration every March. Time to get out that recorder you know you’ve been meaning to play! In case you need a little inspiration, today’s Beautiful Music is provided by two phenomenal recorder players: Marion Verbruggen and Michala Petri. Born in Amsterdam in 1950, Marion Verbruggen has been on the leading edge of the revival of interesting in baroque music, performing all over the world as a chamber musician and with the top baroque orchestras. Danish musician Michala Petri, born in 1958, also blazed a virtuosic trail. These are two of the extraordinary and inspiring recorder players of our time.
