Beautiful Music in Difficult Times March 12*

Today marks one year since my first “Beautiful Music” blog post. The world had just taken an alarming and isolating turn, and as an antidote to social distancing, I felt compelled to reach out and find a way we could come together in our shared love of music. In honor of this anniversary, I am once again featuring that same talented musician I featured one year ago: violinist Hilary Hahn. She burst on the scene as a teenage prodigy in the 90s, releasing her debut all-Bach CD in 1997. Over the years since, she has grown immensely as a musician, honing her skills, broadening her repertory, cultivating a lovely relationship with her fans, and successfully navigating the challenges of building a satisfying personal life for herself as a wife and mother of two young daughters. She is, and has always been, a great role model for keeping one’s head on straight, and it’s such a pleasure to see how she has matured as a musician and a person.  This is Hilary Hahn playing Beautiful Music by Johann Sebastian Bach – his Sonatas 1 & 2, and Partita 1 for solo violin. You can also watch an adorable video of Hilary Hahn practicing, while receiving some coaching advice from her toddler daughter.
