Beautiful Music in Difficult Times June 20

Happy Father’s Day!  In honor of the occasion, today’s Beautiful Music features a prolific musical dad — Johann Sebastian Bach (father of 20!) — and some of his talented offspring. Pianist (and father) Kyle P. Walker kicks it off with a concert program that includes music by JS (Partita #1 in Bb, and  Prelude in b) as well as delightful music by Beethoven, Margaret Bonds, and Samuel Coleridge Taylor.

You’ll also hear a movement from a Sonata by Carl Philip Emanuel Bach played by Johanna Rose ( Viola da gamba) and Javier Núñez (harpsichord) from a 2017 recording.

There is also a lovely little Keyboard Sonata by Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach played by harpsichordist Anna Kislitsyna from a March 2020 performance.

And finally, a charming Quintet by Johann Christian Bach (the “London Bach”) played by the Croatian Baroque Ensemble.
