On the heels of July 4th celebrations, when I listen to BALLAD FOR AMERICANS sung by the great Paul Robeson, I was delighted to find a recording of him using that magnificent voice to sing music by Johann Sebastian Bach. (in English AND German!)

My mother was a great admirer. When he came to Ohio Wesleyan where she was a student, she got an autographed copy of the program. After she passed away, I donated it to the Cincinnati Public Library (the Freedom Center wasn’t interested for some reason).
