“Chaconne” is a musical form that was popular in the 17th and 18th centuries: a repeated harmonic progression overlaid with multiple variations. One well known Chaconne is by Johann Sebastian Bach from his Violin Partita#2 BWV1004. Thomas Crawford and the American Classical Orchestra with Mexican mezzo-soprano Guadalupe Peraza presented their Chaconne Project, a virtual concert exploring the popular Baroque form. Today’s Beautiful Music is their complete November 2020 program, in two parts, concluding with Bach’s Chaconne.
