Early Baroque era violinist and composer Giovanni Battista Fontana enjoyed a successful career as a musician across Italy, but his life was cut short by the plague of 1629–31.
Today’s Beautiful Music is one of Giovanni Battista Fontana’s posthumously published 18 Violin Sonatas played on baroque violin by Alana Youssefian, with members of Voices of Music: viola da gamba player Elisabeth Reed, harpsichordist Hanneke van Proosdij, and lutenist David Tayler.
