A few days ago, I had the pleasure of watching a showcase (online) of students at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in their annual MOVEABLE FEAST event. One of the performers was a young Chinese pianist, Jiaiun (David) Lai, who spoke about his upbringing, and meeting his teacher — pianist Michael Chertock — and his passion for music. Jiaiun Lai happens to be completely blind, and this talented pianist talked about his passion for music and his appreciation for the opportunities he’s had at CCM. I found one of his performances to share with you — Beautiful Music by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed at the World Bach Competition, presented by Boulder Bach Festival.
