John Holiday is a countertenor, which means that he sings in the highest male vocal range, comparable to a female alto or mezzo-soprano. John Holiday’s musical facility and interests transcend genres — he made a splash as a contestant on THE VOICE, the vocal competition tv series. But John Holiday’s roots are in opera, with a focus on Baroque and contemporary composers, and he has performed is all over the world. He also sings gospel and jazz.
This is the incomparable John Holiday, joined by pianist Brent Funderburk, singing a favorite by George Frideric Handel: OMBRA MAI FU from the opera XERXES. There is also a link below to John Holiday’s riveting TedX talk about his journey as a musician and a person and “conquering the monsters.”
