I only recently learned about pianist Philippa Duke Schuyler. Born in New York in 1931, she was a child prodigy — not only as a musician, but also for her ability to read and write at age two, and because she was composing music by the age of five. She had an extraordinary life that was, sadly, cut short in the 1960s in a helicopter crash in Vietnam, where she had gone as a humanitarian. There is a link below with more information about this remarkable woman and some beautiful photos of her. This Beautiful Music is Philippa Schuyler’s performance of the Bach-Liszt Prelude & Fugue in A minor.
