Beautiful Music in Difficult Times August 17

My Beautiful Music offering today is pure self indulgence! These are two of my favorite compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. First, flutist Emmanuel Pahud and harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock play a Flute Sonata that is near and dear to my heart as a flutist. I learned it as a teenager and have performed it many times, and was even scheduled to play it in a March 2020 concert that had to be canceled. The other piece is Bach’s Double Violin Concerto. I adore the middle movement — it is tender and extraordinarily beautiful. For fun, I chose an historic recording featuring two giants: Yehudi Menuhin and David Oistrakh. At the bottom, you will also find a link to my interview with Emmanuel Pahud from a few years ago.
