There are certain pieces of music that have a special place in my heart and one of them is Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto RV 443. As a young flute player, I learned this Concerto and even performed it publicly a few times. Today I’m thrilled to share with you an exciting, virtuosic performance of this Beautiful Music arranged for vibraphone and played by Evelyn Glennie. She is a wonder to watch. She also has so much more to say, so below you can also watch her Ted Talk about How to Truly Listen to Music. And finally, you can see her talk about how to Feel Sound. Evelyn Glennie is one of the world’s great musicians — a trailblazer for the career she has. As she states in her bio:, she is the, ” … first person in history to successfully create and sustain a full-time career as a solo percussionist, performing worldwide with the greatest orchestras, conductors and artists.” Evelyn Glennie is also deaf, and she has an amazing story to tell.
