Music is a refuge.
Music is a source of inspiration.
Music has the power to comfort and minimize stress.
Music connects us to one another and to faraway places and eras.
In this stressful time, when we are being warned to practice “social distancing” I think about our need to practice “social CONNECTING.” Our shared humanity and our shared experience as music lovers are at the core of what I love about music and radio, and what motivates me in my job as host of Sunday Baroque.
You rely on Sunday Baroque as a curated, uplifting soundtrack for your weekend and a source to hear the most gifted musicians who bring their music to life.
In these volatile times, I think we all need an extra dose of inspiration, comfort and stress reduction. A distraction from the serious and important news of the day.
So for the short term, I will be posting an inspiring musical performance each day – something we can share, enjoy, and find inspiration together. Let’s use social media – the Sunday Baroque website and Facebook page – the way it should be used. Let’s convene each day to celebrate goodness and community and beauty in difficult times.
Here is our first communal musical inspiration. It’s the extraordinary violinist Hilary Hahn playing Johann Sebastian Bach. She’s an “old soul” who expresses herself with such depth and clarity, and this music is so soulful and gorgeous and almost hypnotic in its beauty. Enjoy!
Thanks/ couldn’t wait until Sunday so listened today. It works!
Thank you! 🙂
