Mexico celebrates its annual Independence Day on September 16, and in the U.S., the observance of National Hispanic Heritage Month extends from September 15-October 15. Sunday Baroque will get into the spirit with some Mexican baroque music by Manuel Zumaya, who was born in Mexico City in the 1670s and worked as chapel master at the cathedral there.

In honor of the Labor Day holiday weekend, Sunday Baroque will feature some of the hardest working musicians of the 16th through 18th centuries: exceptionally prolific composers including German musician Michael Praetorius whose created more than 1500 compositions, Venetian violinist Antonio Vivaldi whose varied output included some 500 Concertos, and Neapolitan harpsichord virtuoso Domenico Scarlatti, who composed more than 500 solo keyboard sonatas.
