In addition to the many familiar instruments in a band or orchestra, there are lots of other more obscure instruments, especially in baroque and early music groups. Take “viola d’amore” for example – maybe you’ve never even heard of it, but composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann and Antonio Vivaldi used the instrument in some of their music.
