Florentine composer Giuseppe Valentini was a painter and poet, as well as an outstanding violinist and composer. We might know more about him if he hadn’t been overshadowed by other musicians such as Antonio Vivaldi and Arcangelo Corelli. You’ll hear some of Giuseppe Valentini’s lovely music – a concerto featuring FOUR violins — on Sunday Baroque this weekend.
Alexandre Tharaud is an unusual musician – unlike most other professional musicians who are pianists, he chooses NOT to have a piano in his home. He’s afraid he might be tempted to poke around and improvise, so he goes to practice at various friends’ homes. You’ll hear Alexandre Tharaud playing beautiful solos by Francois Couperin on Sunday Baroque this weekend.
