The roots of our celebration of Mother’s Day go back to two pivotal people and events: West Virginia mom Ann Reeves Jarvis, who helped establish “Mothers’ Day Work Clubs” to help women learn to care for their children. And abolitionist and poet Julia Ward Howe, whose MOTHER’S DAY PROCLAMATION, implored mothers to unite in promoting peace. You’ll hear musical moms and their talented kids on Sunday Baroque this week.
