Violinist Chiara Banchini founded her period instrument group Ensemble 415 in 1981. The chamber ensemble’s name refers to the presumed pitch for tuning instruments in the baroque era: the note “A” is calibrated at 415 herz, which is lower (flatter) than the pitch used for modern instruments. Sunday Baroque will feature a performance by Ensemble 415 so you can hear the sound of that historically informed characteristic.
